As of now it seems Houdini spins up it’s own local server with QT to dish out the Help contents from inside the application. The problem is it’s is slow as fudge running on a 56k dialup connection.
To bypass this horror, and to save yourself time and agony, copy and paste the local url from Houdini’s popup browser into Chrome or Firefox, voila, fast connection to localhost!
You can also use the environment variable “HOUDINI_EXTERNAL_HELP_BROWSER = 1”
Might be wrong in the syntax but it’s easy to find. That makes it open automatically. 😀
Yeah that makes sense didn’t realize there was a variable for that, thanks!.
